To safeguard the steel plate's surface from corrosion and extend its lifespan, it is coated with a protective layer of metallic zinc, creating what is known as a galvanized sheet. Utilizing cold-rolled steel coil as substrates, this continuous hot-dip process ensures a tight adhesion of the coating to the steel. This is achieved through an iron-zinc alloy bonding layer, formed by a diffusion process when the heated steel strip contacts the molten zinc. However, a drawback is that if the zinc coating isscratched off,the underlying steel is left exposed and vulnerable to failure. Despite this, galvanized steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, paintability, and workability thanks to zinc's inherent properties.
Based on the surface zinc spangle, galvanized coil can be categorized into spangled or non-spangled varieties.
