As a key process in the production process, heat treatment can improve the plasticity, toughness and processing performance of elastic steel wire in order to meet various
performance indicators (mainly mechanical and process performance) required by the standard. In the production process of oil quenched spring steel wire, the heat
treatment process mainly includes heating, quenching and tempering. Among them, quenching is the key process, because only by heating above the critical point of the
spring steel wire, and after proper heat preservation, can austenite structure with fine grain and uniform composition be obtained, and then rapidly quenched and cooled to transform into martensite structure, and finally through tempering Obtain uniform and fine troostite structure. After oil-quenched spring steel wire is quenched, there are
residual stresses inside, including thermal stress in the quenching and cooling process, and phase transformation stress in the martensite transformation process, and
tempering is the main method to reduce or eliminate residual stress. In addition, the martensite obtained by quenching has sufficient strength but insufficient toughness,
and tempering is required to improve the ductility and toughness. The tempering transformation process is divided into four stages: martensite decomposition, retained austenite transformation, carbide transformation, recovery of Q phase, recrystallization and cementite aggregation and spheroidization, and the transformation temperatures of the four stages cross each other. As the last process, fire is used to reduce or eliminate the residual stress of the spring steel wire, adjust the strength and improve the plastic toughness.
