To prevent corrosion and extend the steel plate's service life, its surface is coated with a layer of metallic zinc, resulting in what is known as a galvanized sheet. Utilizing cold-rolled steel coil as substrates, the coating process employs a continuous hot-dip method. This method ensures the coating adheres tightly to the steel through an iron-zinc alloy bonding layer formed during the diffusion process when the heated steel strip contacts molten zinc. However, if the zinc coating is scratched off,the steel beneath is left unprotected, making it susceptible to failure. Nevertheless, galvanized steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, paintability, and workability owing to zinc's inherent characteristics.
Depending on the surface zinc spangle, galvanized coils can be classified as either galvanized coil with spangle or galvanized coil without spangle.
