To safeguard the steel plate surface from corrosion and enhance its longevity, the steel plate is coated with a layer of metallic zinc, creating what we know as the galvanized sheet. This involves the continuous hot-dip process using cold-rolled steel coils as substrates, where an iron-zinc alloy bonding layer forms through diffusion as the heated steel strip meets the molten zinc. One limitation, however, is that if the zinc coating is compromised,scratched off thesteel, the underlying steel becomes vulnerable, potentially leading to failure. Nevertheless, galvanized steel offers superb corrosion resistance, excellent paintability, and outstanding workability thanks to the inherent properties of zinc.
Based on the surface zinc spangle, galvanized coils can be categorized into those with spangle or without spangle.
